Katherine Green

Born 1960, in Washington, District of Columbia

My personal experience with and interest in Government, Policy & Law derive from a lifetime of experience with the following five areas:

1. Wilderness Use and Management

Beginning with wilderness guiding, on horseback, at Cold River Ranch, in Corey’s, New York, inside the Adirondack Park, during the 1970's and 1980's, and continuing through service with the Soil and Water Conservation District Board of Directors in Marion County Florida, serving as a Director, or as the Chair, from 2004 to 2012 (not inclusive).

2. Agriculture

As a Thoroughbred Owner & Breeder, active from the 1990's to 2004, and the breeder of Repository, winner of the Stravinsky and Summer Solstice Stake Races, providing direct experience with the Thoroughbred breeding, racing and betting industries.  Additionally - as Supervisor and later Chair of the Marion County Soil  & Water Conservation District Board - worked with State, Federal and County Government to develop successful programs and strategies which balanced agricultural business needs with government policies designed to mitigate environmental harms, while not placing undue, unreasonable, or simply foolish policies or restrictions upon producers - many of whom were innocent of creating environmental issues - while focusing on the true challenges facing our ecosystems and natural resources in a practical & effective manner.

The Policies & Programs which we developed under my aegis include:

a) the first Best Management Practices (BMP) Manual for the Equine Industry in the State of Florida, and

b) brought to Marion County a Federal Mobile Irrigation Lab which, in some cases, could lower water usage on commercial agricultural farms by as much as 80% to 90% without a reduction in production.Additionally, in the same period served on the Marion County Springs & Aquifer Task Force which developed the first county Code in the State of Florida to protect ground water resources; assisted in oversight of controlled burns in the Gothe State Forest and reviewed the management program for Silver Springs - Florida's most famous first-magnitude spring.

3. Property Management, Hospitality and Real Estate Businesses

From 1995 to 2021: Owner, Manager, or Board Member of Amitel Incorporated, a Florida Corporation which managed a real estate portfolio of high net value, the majority of which was located in Arlington, Virginia and included the Americana Hotel, a beloved family property sitting squarely between Reagan National Airport and the Pentagon. This Hotel, built by my father - William D. Green - was functionally bankrupted by the Government’s Covid Policies. My family chose to sell our portfolio in Arlington, leading to highly destructive and excessive taxation and the loss to the community of our services. The interface between government policies, private businesses, & multinational corporations - all too frequently - has created a lack of economic opportunity for small and medium sized businesses while allowing large corporations and huge bureaucracies to act and operate in an unchecked fashion. This current situation is a foundational area of interest and effort which I believe must be addressed successfully for our business communities to thrive.

4. Studies in Holistic Healing & Health

For Humans, as well as for Domestic Animals, from 2004 to 2008, at the Florida Acupuncture Center, in Brooksville, Florida, and from 2015 to 2017 with the Herscu Module of The New England School of Homeopathy, taught at Bastyr University in Washington State.

5. Chair of Children’s Health Defense, Oregon Chapter, 2021 to Present

In this capacity worked to support those harmed through poor policy decisions here in Oregon as well as throughout the Federal Government. Provided accurate and alternative information surrounding 'forbidden' topics such as toxins in our food, vaccines and medicines; also addressed the limits placed on free speech, bodily autonomy, property rights, religious rights, and employment opportunities.
